Dolomites and nature

Dobbiaco is famous for its natural beauties, the Dolomites and natural parks as well. Some examples are the Dolomiti di Sesto Natural Park (Italian: Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti di Sesto, German: Naturpark Sextner Dolomiten) and the Fanes-Sennes-Braies natural park (Italian: Parco Naturale Sennes- Braies- Faies, German: Naturpark Fanes- Sennes- Prags). Around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo you can admire the typical Alpine flowers like: Rhodothamnus chamaecistus or the Campanula scheuchzeri. It’s also possible to admire many kinds of Alpine animals like: many kinds of peckers, like: the three-toed woodpecker, the black woodpecker and the water pipit. If you are lucky, you can also see the famous golden eagles. Dobbiaco also hosts very high level sport events like the World Cup races, the Nordic ski marathons and the track-and-field athletics in summer.
